Taliban forces conducted a targeted attack against Mohammad Rahim Kohdamani, commander of the Afghan National Civil Order Police Eighth Regiment, while he was picnicking with his family in the Dasht-e-Abdan area. During the assault, the commander's adult son was killed. The attack appeared to specifically target the police commander but resulted in civilian casualties within his family.
