On August 7, 2019, an explosion from an improvised explosive device (IED) attached to a motorcycle occurred in the Haji Abbas area, impacting a local bazaar. The incident resulted in 5 fatalities and 25 injuries among the civilian population. While no group has officially claimed responsibility for the attack, it is noted that both the Taliban and the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant-Khorasan Province (ISIL-KP) have previously attributed similar incidents targeting the Hazara and Shia communities in Afghanistan.
