On April 1, 2022, two explosions took place in Jibraeil Town, a Hazara neighborhood in Herat City. The blasts resulted in at least 10 deaths and 30 injuries. The explosions occurred during a gathering of approximately 200 people engaged in the traditional game of Sangirak (Rock Throwing). The Islamic State of Iraq and Levant-Khorasan Province (ISIL-KP) has claimed to have conducted the attacks, citing the targeting of the Hazara-Shia community.
