On March 7, 2019, a series of rockets were launched at the Masallae-i-Mazari site in Dasht-e-Barchi during the 25th-anniversary commemoration of the death of Hazara leader Abdul Ali Mazari. The attack resulted in at least 11 fatalities and 95 injuries among the attendees, who were predominantly Hazara civilians. The Islamic State of Iraq and Levant-Khorasan Province (ISIL-KP) has since claimed responsibility for the incident.
