In the early morning hours of June 2, 2015, Anti-Government Elements entered the compound of the Czech non-governmental organization "People in Need" in Zari district of Balkh Province. The assailants killed nine Afghan civilian employees of the organization, including one pregnant woman, using small arms fire. The identity of the attackers and their specific affiliation remained unknown.
