On March 30, 2017, five members of the same family, including women and children, were killed when a mortar shell struck their home in the Lala Guzar area of Khwaja Baha Wuddin district. According to police officials, insurgents had stormed a local police checkpoint and fired mortars at the position when one shell went off-target and hit the civilian residence. The Taliban were blamed for the attack, though this was not officially confirmed.
