On April 25, 2024, two police officers in the Jaghuri District of Ghazni reportedly raped two women. The perpetrators were apprehended at the scene and handed over to the Jaghor Police and Security Command, with demands for justice from the public. However, the local officials arranged for the safe escape of the accused officers, which sparked protests against the district governor and chief of police. When the security officers attempted to disperse the protesters, they opened fire, killing two and injuring eight others.
