On Wednesday, April 13, 2022, Taliban intelligence operatives in Bamyan Province arrested Sattar Baig from Yakawlang District No. 1. Baig served as the personal secretary to Mawlawi Mahdi, a former prominent Hazara Taliban commander. The exact reason for Baig's detention remains unclear. However, local residents suggest that his association with Mawlawi Mahdi was the primary cause for his arrest. It is worth noting that Mawlawi Mahdi was later captured and killed by the Taliban near the Iran-Afghanistan border. Sattar Baig is also the son of Haji Mukhtar Ahmadi, who held the position of Taliban district governor for Yakawlang District No. 1. during the arrest of his son.
