- Summary of incident
On April 13, 2017, a pressure-plate improvised explosive device (PPIED) detonated when a civilian vehicle struck it in Ahmadabad district. The explosion killed a woman, her seven-year-old son, and her husband, while injuring two other women. One of the injured women subsequently suffered a miscarriage as a result of her injuries. This incident demonstrates the indiscriminate nature of pressure-activated explosive devices that target anyone who triggers them.
