On October 20, 2018, an ISIS-KP suicide attacker detonated an explosive device outside a polling center located in a municipality office in Kabul City. The attack killed 13 people, including nine civilian men and four Afghan National Police officers who were performing civilian functions, and injured 40 others (34 men and six women). This deliberate targeting of electoral infrastructure represents an assault on democratic participation and the electoral process.
