Summary of incident

Afghan special forces killed six foreign fighters in a night raid against Abdul Raziq, the commander of the Taliban in Musa Qala. A wedding party then drove into the raid area and helicopters overhead opened fire, killing 40 civilians and wounding an additional 12. The civilian casualties occurred when the wedding procession inadvertently entered the active military operation zone.
