On April 7, 2017, members of the Khost Protection Force (KPF) shot and killed two civilian men who were traveling home after purchasing food items from Khost City in Sabari district. Following the incident, KPF members reportedly apologized to the victims' families. The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) found no indication that Khost authorities conducted an investigation into these killings by the pro-government paramilitary unit.
